Review Gmail Account Recent Login or Access Activity History and Remote Logout Intruder or Hacker

Suspicious or suspecting somebody else such as hacker or intruder is accessing and hacking into your Gmail account without your knowledge? Gmail is getting popular as email service provider of choice by many, and is probably holding and storing lots of sensitive private personal information such as user name and password credential recoveries, tax records, love letters, Google Talk chat histories, bank statements and etc.

Thus protecting the security of Gmail or Google Mail account is of utmost important. Other than using a hard-to-guess and long password to secure the e-mail account from brute-force and dictionary attack hacking attempt, it may be useful to review and check Gmail account login session and access activity history in order to ensure that only user himself or herself and other authorized people is gaining access and logging into the Gmail account.

Gmail has launched "Last Account Activity" feature that showing user information about recent activity in the Gmail account. Recent activation information includes any times that the mail account was accessed, using a regular web browser, through a POP or IMAP client, from Google Toolbar or a mobile device, and other access type. The IP address from which the access was made, as well as the time and date is listed, enable user to check and verify that the login is indeed valid and legitimate, and whether there is another person use the Gmail account without your consent and knowledge.

To access the last account activity history, click on the Details link at the end of the Last account activity line at the bottom of any Gmail page to open a new window showing the recent sign in records from last few hours onwards, including concurrent session information if user (or anybody else) opens Gmail account access in more than one location.

In the "Activity on this account" window, there are plentiful of information that is available, including user’s current IP address, so that user can know easily which session is opened by him, and if there is another login session to Gmail that does not occur on his or her comptuer.

The top table, under "Concurrent session information," indicates all open sessions, along with IP address and "access type" — which refers to how email was retrieved, for example, through iGoogle, POP3 or a mobile phone. The bottom table, under "Recent activity," contains my most recent history along with times of access. I can also view my current IP address at the very bottom of this window, where it says "This computer is using IP address…"

With this information, I can quickly verify that all the Gmail activity was indeed mine. I remember using Gmail at the times and locations listed. Being extra cautious, I can also click on the "Sign out all other sessions" button to sign out of the account I left open at home.

If you suspect the intrusion or violation into your Gmail has occurred, then remotely sign out and log out all Gmail access session that is not on your current computer by clicking on Sign out all other sessions button. The next thing you should do if immediately changing your Gmail account password by going to Google Account Settings, and then click on Change Password.

WhatsApp Messenger is available for almost all mobile operating systems like Android, iOS, Windows Phone, Blackberry and Symbian. However, there is no WhatsApp for PC and web based chat client or software is not available for computer. This may not be a big issue for most users. But for me it is a serious a problem. I hate typing on mobile phones, I always prefer physical keyboard over touch screen keyboards. So when I’m using computer I always wanted to use WhatsApp on computer to chat with friends. Fortunately, there is still a way to use install and use WhatsApp on PC.

Currently Wassapp supports on Windows PC’s.

  2. Login using an already registered phone number (if it was registered in Android/iOS using an old version of WhatsApp).

  3. Group chat support (creating group chats is not supported yet).

  4. Last seen support.

  5. Emoji support.

When I was testing it, I didn’t have WhatApp account, so I selected Register option. To register a new account, select your country first then enter the mobile phone number. Now you have to enter IMEI number of any mobile or WI-Fi Mac address if you have an iPhone. Next, select method of receiving the WhatsApp verification code and click on ‘Request Code’ button. Now you will receive the verification code either by SMS or by call. Enter the code you have received and proceed to the next screen. A password will be generated for your account, copy the password and login to Wassapp using it.

Once WhatsApp contacts are added you can start chatting with them. Wassapp supports smilies and file sharing through attachments. It also supports group chatting and ‘Last seen’ feature. Get Aadhaar to obtain PAN card now

The Unique Identification (UID) Aadhaar number will soon be a "valid" proof of identity and address to obtain a PAN card.

A proposal for inclusion of Aadhaar in the existing list of valid proof of identification and proof of address for allotment of PAN was sent to the finance ministry by the Unique Identification Authority of India sometime back.

The ministry has decided to notify rules in this regard. It is aimed at curbing the menace of fake or duplicate PAN cards which are allotted by I-T department to taxpayers.

"Once Aadhaar is accepted as a valid proof for obtaining PAN, the I-T department would be able to weed out the menace of fake, forging or duplication of PAN cards.

"The amalgamation of the databases is in full swing and the ministry would soon notify the rules in this regard," a senior finance ministry official said.

The ministry, through the Income Tax department, has already incorporated more than 1.75 lakh Aadhaar numbers in its database since it notified a new form 49A for getting PAN last year.

It has been working for nearly three years on the plan of creating a biometric database of taxpayers which it will now achieve by incorporating the Aadhaar data which has been taken on similar lines.

Till now, a variety of documents, like voter ID card, passport, driving licence and documents of owning or renting a property were used as a proof to obtain the Permanent Account Number (PAN).

The ministry had last year brought out a new PAN application form-- 49A for use of Indian citizens, companies and entities incorporated in the country which allows a applicant to mention his or her Aadhaar number.

The finance ministry, which had first mooted the proposal of generating and issuing biometric PAN in 2006, had kept the decision pending for sometime as it was felt that both the agencies (UIDAI and I-T) would be "duplicating the effort" to reach a common goal -- biometrics-based identity.

In 2006, the ministry had proposed that the biometric PAN cards would have the I-T assesses' fingerprints (two from each hand) and the face. This will now be achieved by collating the Aadhaar database with that of the PAN.

According to latest data (till December last), more than 16.49 crore PAN cards have been issued in the country.

The I-T department, in a number of cases, has unearthed a number of individuals possessing multiple PAN cards or forging the details to evade taxes and create 'benami' properties.
